    Dear God... are you serious?

'Pagan times' for Western Europe was the pre-Late Roman period. Which was about two thousand years ago. The Crucible is set in Salem during the days of the Puritans... a LOT later. Not quite sure of the dates (American history isn't my strong point. America is bland) but I'd guess around 1680-1740.

Pagans do still exist (although I am not one, I'm atheist). They worship nature gods. Some believe in the Greek/Roman pantheon (Zeus (Jupiter), Ares (Mars), Hades (Pluto) and etc.) . Some believe in the Nordic pantheon (Odin, Thor, Tyr and etc.) Some believe in the Egyptian pantheon (Ra, Osirus, Anubis and etc.) And there are a vast number of other followings. Paganism isn't a single religion in itself but a collection of religions. Each one believes in different gods, has different creation myths (not trying offend anyone by saying 'myth'), and has different religious practices.

And to the person asking about them believing in the same God as mainstream Christianity... what the heck... they would be Christians even if they took it to an extreme.

I was going to mention the Crucible. It was set it 1693, last time I checked. Brilliant play, I must say.

Eh. I didn't much care for it. I prefered Antigone (which was set in the hayday of Pagan days by the way) myself.

Oh Antigone is just superb. My cousin studied and performed the play for Drama in College.

We're all natural born actresses in my family. (:
