Life is not for everyone and it's temporary for a reason folks, it gets boring after a while. You know it's like a good sitcome on Tv...it's ace for the first season and maybe the second and then it gets boring and you have to throw in an alien or a long lost son to make it interesting....and then it ends and you are so pleased. |

You made a lot of good points, Kev, I agree that there should be an age limit on suicide just like there is on alcohol, but perhaps a bit higher. 30 is good, though I've met my fair share of 30 year old idiots who need more time to grow up. Maybe 35? Well anyway, I've been guilty of saying "suicide is cowardly," but it really isn't. We just say that to scare people out of it. I've contemplated killing myself in the past and the main reason I did NOT kill myself is...I was too chicken. Hell, I'm glad I didn't, really glad...but I am not going to sit here and claim that I never bothered killing myself because I worked up the courage to live. Ha! That is ridiculous. And you know many cultures consider suicide honorable. Sort of like self sacrifice, or punishing oneself for something unbearably dishonorable. Anyway, Kevin is right. |

Lets not pretend every senior citizen in the world has mentally decayed. My grandmother is in her 70's and can still knock us young pups on our butt on a night out on the town. There are plenty who are capable of taking care of themselves until the day death knocks on their door. Now if you are incapable of taking care of yourself or you have a terminal illness, I can see wanting to just get it over with. I had to watch my Aunt whither away with cancer, begging the docs to just overdose her, but there are those who suffer needlessly, young and old, merely because they don't want to take their medication or help themselves. |

Kevin's not saying that ALL oldies have crap lives. Similarly, he's not saying that they all should be pushed to stick a knife in their stomaches if they forget to pick up the milk on the way home even tho thats what they went there for... he's just saying if you're life is crap, if you're hating living, if you're dragging everyone else around you down and you dont like it, if all you can think about and all that consumes you is to end this miserable life when you're that old, who are we to tell them they cant? |

Life has it's ups and downs... and it's not like a t.v show even if the first ten years suck the rest will be better and even if it doesn't get better people should remind themselves of others who have lives worse than theirs... and mainly people give up at the wrong time.. after they take their lives something good was about to happen to them... I mean I always wished my life was one of those mexican soup opera peoples lives... after hours of thinking about my life I discovered it was... I just didn't see it! |

Ah, Dave, what am I supposed to do with your example? I am talking general cases here and you are talking about one case, which is a personal one to you and asking me if my theory fits. |
